[Skills Post 3] Edited Compare and Contrast essay

I think that one of the best way to improve your English skills is to speak and write only English in something like a camp or any programme that enables students to speak and write in English only. However, as you all know, everything has good points and bad points.

Camp Big Apple is a tree week camp which focuses on Math and English. All the professors there have a Master's degree. They stay in America and study with students from all over the world and they live in dormitories. Ranch West Camp is a four week camp and the students get to choose the subject that they want to study about. All the teachers there are recent graduates from the university and the accomodation is a home stay style. Head Start Splash is a five week camp where the students get to study the things the local students study in the school. The school is a certificated international school. All the teachers there have at least a Bachelor's degree and at least one parent has to accompany their children.

For me, all three camps, Camp Big Apple, Ranch West Camp and Head Start Splash all seem very beneficial for me. They all speak English almost all the time and are all abroad. They allow students to experience new culture and activities. They all have interesting activities even though they are all different.

When I choose which kind of camp I want to go to, I look at how enjoyable it can be, the length, the subjects and the balance of outdoor activities and studying. I think that Camp Big Apple study too much, is too short and the students only study Math and English so I wouldn't be able to enjoy it much. However Head Start Splash has too many outdoor activities. If we have too many outdoor activities, when are we going to study? Also the length of the camp is too long. Compared to the two camps, Ranch West Camp has enough outoor activities, the length is just right and the students get to choose what they want to study. That's why I think that Ranch West Camp is the best.

Even though the teachers may be recent graduates, as the students live in a home stay style, they can speak English anywhere and learn the other aspects of English other than the English they learn at school. However, in Head Start Splash and Camp Big Apple, the students could speak Korean in their dormitories as they are alone in home.

In Ranch West Camp, the students can choose a subject they want to learn and study from these subjects: Math, Art, History, Science, Politics, World cultures, Music, Computer Programming and Literature. While learning a subject that the students are interested in and having fun, the students can improve their English Skills.

Considering other facts and the aspects of each of the camps, I think that Ranch West Camp is the best camp to study English affectively because of the reasons above.

[Skill Post 2] Summarizing & Paraphrasing (article)

These days, the tension between the North and the South Korea is getting greater so I chose an article about the South and the North Korea.

[Actual]

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Seven North Koreans were returned home on Friday after their fishing boats drifted to South Korea across the tense maritime line between the countries, officials said.
On Thursday, South Korea's military rescued four North Koreans facing drowning in the Yellow Sea after their two damaged boats were found near a South Korean island. Separately, three other people on a different boat were found but they were returned to the North after the South provided them fuel early Friday morning.
South Korea's Red Cross said in a statement that the four rescued were also returned to the North later Friday across the land border between the countries after they expressed their wish to go back during questioning.
The Red Cross, which often handles humanitarian affairs with North Korea, said the four had been fishing before their boats separately drifted south.
Tensions have been high in the area since a deadly North Korean artillery attack on a South Korean island last year.

[Summarizing]

On Friday, seven North Koreans were returned home. Four of them were rescued by the South Koreans and the other three returned home after given fuel to sail back. The four went back on Friday. It is said that they were fishing when the boat drifted south.

[Skill Post 2] Summarizing & Paraphrasing

Summarizing

Shark Attacks

Most people are afraid of being attacked by sharks. However it is very unlikely to get attacked by sharks. It is more likely to get struck by lightening or get drowned in the water. If you are still worried about shark attacks, you can travel in groups or stay out when you have a cut.

Paraphrasing

Bear Attacks

[Actual]

In the Yellowstone National Park in the US, statistics show that you are more likely to drown than to be attacked by a bear. In the period between 1839 and 1994, 101 people died from drowning but only 5 people were killed by grizzly bears.

[Paraphrased]

In the Yellowstone National Park in US, it is said that people are more likely to drown rather than getting killed by bears. During the time in 1839 and 1994, 101 people died from drowning but only 5 got killed by grizzly bears.

PA/TA

Do you have a way of seperating the PA/TA from the students?

I usually seperate them by the t-shirt they are wearing. Navy blue shirt that is like their uniforms. However, some don't wear it. For instance just now right after 5th period, I thought that a TA was a student so I just spoke Korean freely. After that guess what, I got EOP paper. I am very lucky that it is short and I know the poem. My friend in Singapore had to recite it in front of the class and I read it a few times as she wanted me to check if she memorised it.

I personally think that all EOP papers should be banned. What is the use of memorising a series of sentences? Don't you agree? Memorising a few sentences doesn't mean that we are going to be better at English and be so comfortable that we use it everyday, every minute, every second. Anyway this is just my opinion. I don't mind memorising a series of sentences but this is just useless.

What the World Eats - Japan

Today we had steamed rice, miso soup, pickles and grilled fish for breakfast. It was so delicious that I ate more than one bowl of steamed rice. After breakfast, we had fruits for dessert. I ate 2 bananas. Banana is my favourite fruit. I am glad that we usually have bananas for dessert.

For lunch, we ate Udon. I really liked my lunch because Udon is my favourite kind of noodles. I especially like the soup. I think my family members enjoyed it too. I really feel like I am in heaven because breakfast and lunch contained my kinds of favourite food!

For dinner, we went to a western restaurant. I ate bread for appetiser, pasta for the main course and ice cream for dessert. The bread came with mushroom soup which is my favourite. The pasta was in tomato sauce and the ice cream was vanilla with chocolate syrup! Today was the day I ate all of my favourite food! I really enjoyed today, eating all of my favourite food!

[Music Review] Picture to Burn - Taylor Swift

Let's go Taylor Swift!

This is one of my favourite songs.

I don't really like Taylor Swift but this song, is just amazing!

Lyrics:

State the obvious, I didn't get my perfect fantasy
I realize you love yourself more than you could ever love me
So go and tell your friends that I'm obsessive and crazy
That's fine I'll tell mine that you're gay! [album version line]
That's fine you won't mind if I say [music video version line]
By the way...

[Chorus:]
I hate that stupid old pickup truck
You never let me drive
You're a redneck heartbreak
Who's really bad at lying
So watch me strike a match
On all my wasted time
As far as I'm concerned you're
Just another picture to burn

There's no time for tears,
I'm just sitting here planning my revenge
There's nothing stopping me
From going out with all of your best friends
And if you come around saying sorry to me
My daddy's gonna show you how sorry you'll be

[Chorus]

And if you're missing me,
You'd better keep it to yourself
'cause coming back around here
Would be bad for your health...

'cause I hate that stupid old pickup truck
You never let me drive
You're a redneck heartbreak
Who's really bad at lying
So watch me strike a match
On all my wasted time
In case you haven't heard,
I really really hate that...

[Chorus]

Burn, burn, burn, baby, burn
You're just another picture to burn
Baby, burn...

I had to dance to this music at school.

I cursed my friend who made me do it :)

Here are my ratings

Lyrics: ★★★★★+★★
Music: ★★★★★
Catchy: ★★★★☆

Overall: ★★★★★+★

My friend apparently wants to sing that to all the boys who 'broke' her heart and that is about 5 people.

I really like this song and I would recommend it for girls with 'broken hearts'.

Relay Story

At class, we wrote a relay story. Everyone would write one sentence on their notebook and we would rotate our notebooks and write under the sentence above.

I didn't mean it to be like this..

I don't know how the story has to do with the French Revolution..

During the time of the French Revolution, there was a guy named Ron. He was very rich. He wanted to buy a car, a house, and a building but he was not married.

One day he saw a pretty woman. The man wanted to marry with the woman but the woman was already married with her boyfriend so he started to find a woman to be married with him. However Ron was single for 19 years. Because of this stress, he told himself that one day, he will kill all married men. He secretly packed murdering equiptment and prepared to put in action his plan.

There was a smart planner who was the master of planning. His name was Jooon - Sub. He planned to poison every married men alive. However Jooon - Sub was secretly married. Jooon - Sub was ugly, so they brok up. The girl slapped Jooon - Sub's face and said, 'You are too ugly! Do plastic surgery and become like Hyeon Bin!' but Jooon - Sub didn't have any money.

Then, Girl's Generation came and asked him to make a wish so he said that he wanted to become like Hyeon Bin. However Girl's Generation changed him into Park Hyeon - Bin so he became a singer.

...

I have no idea how Ron's story became into Jooon - Sub becoming a singer...

Before that, it is during the French Revolution. How would the girl and Jooon - Sub know who is Hyeon Bin and Girl's Genration wasn't even alive in that time.

Anyway it is funny so like it's okay.

REVIEW) Goodbye baby - Miss A

New release from Miss A.

Well it is not kind of new but like you know they released it about a week and a half ago so I think it is new.

The lyrics are very catchy.

I want to put the lyrics but EOP right?

My ratings:

Lyrics: ★★★★☆
Music: ★★★★★
Catchy: ★★★★★

Overall: ★★★★☆

It is a such a good song but then for me there is this 2% not enough feeling.
Still, I recommend this song :)

Intro..

So.. this is my first actual post on my blog.
As this is my first post I would like to introduce myself.

My hobbies are watching animations, playing computer games and listening to music. That is the reason why I my blog's title is 'Music & Ani Review' by the way 'Ani' is short for animation. I was too bothered to type 'animation'. I like to listen to all kinds of music, from classic to rock, I like all of them. My favourite singer is SHINee and I especially like the songs 'Juliet' and 'Hello'.

I am not sure about my personality. I am not kind thats for sure. I am apparently 'evil' to my friends. Other than that, I guess I laugh a lot and I like funny things. That is why while watching the television, other than watching animations, I usually watch comedy programmes.

My favourite movie is 'Sunny' because it taught me the importance of friendship and I don't know how much I cried in the movie. I was very touched by them. My favourite books are 'The series of Unfortunate Events'. It is about three sibilings whose parents died of fire and gets sent to their cousins and one of them is 'Count Olaf'. Olaf is a selfish person who wants to steal the money that the siblings' parents left behind as it was a great amount. The rest of the story is about getting away from Olaf.

I think this will be enough for now. You can get to know me better later.

Here are somethings that I am going to do in this blog:

1) Review music

2) Review animation

I think that is about it

When I do review posts, even though you may not like the song or the animation, please don't swear or say too much bad things about it.
